Kalev basketball team's new naming sponsor is Bigbank

Bigbank will support basketball club Kalev with a total of 1 million euros over the next three years. The men's team will compete under the name Bigbank/Kalev, while the club's youth teams will be known as KK Sokud Bigbank/Kalev.

According to Ramo Kask, CEO of Basketball Club Kalev, a new chapter is beginning for the club. “We are extremely pleased that we found common values with Bigbank in a very short period of time. This marks the beginning of a new story, new memories and new ambitions under the name Bigbank/Kalev.” Kask noted that Bigbank's naming sponsorship provides the club with a strong foundation for the coming seasons and supports its pursuit of increasingly ambitious goals. “Our new head coach can now feel more confident when building the team. We are grateful for Bigbank's trust and look forward to pursuing our goals together,” he added.

According to Arthur Taavet, Head of Bigbank Estonia, there is a certain symbolism in an Estonian bank taking over the naming sponsorship of one of Estonia's most iconic basketball teams from a Dutch company. “Who else but Estonians themselves should help create the next generation of Sokud, Kuusmaad and Kullamäed?” said Taavet, referring to the legendary Kalev players of the 1990s, whose impact on Estonian basketball can still be felt today.

Taavet added that Bigbank has supported one of Estonia's leading volleyball clubs, Bigbank Tartu, for many years, having extended that naming sponsorship agreement earlier this week. With the Kalev partnership, the bank is now becoming a sponsor of a top-level basketball club in Tallinn for the first time. “Above all, this reflects Bigbank's own growth. We have developed into a universal bank, and over the past year tens of thousands of people have chosen Bigbank as their everyday banking partner. We want to give them even more reasons to celebrate victories together with us,” said Taavet.
