Million-euro agreement: Bigbank supports Tartu volleyball club with 1 million euros

Bigbank has signed a record-breaking naming sponsorship agreement worth 1 million euros, extending its support for the Bigbank Tartu men's team, Tartu Ülikool/Bigbank women's team, and the club's youth teams for the next four years.

According to Hendrik Rikand, manager of SK Duo, Bigbank has stood alongside the Tartu volleyball family for the past 14 years, and such long-term commitment is rare in Estonian sport. “We share a desire to be the best in our respective fields and a belief that success is the result of long-term work. Extending the agreement gives the club confidence for the future, while also creating a responsibility to achieve results worthy of that trust in the years ahead,” said Rikand.

Arthur Taavet, Head of Bigbank Estonia, likewise emphasised the importance of having reliable partners in any endeavour. “Our message is simple: 1 million euros. Although our current agreement remains valid for another year, we wanted to send the club a clear signal that they can continue to rely on Bigbank throughout the next contract cycle as well,” said Taavet, adding that the bank highly values the cooperation. “We see a strong sports club that competes for titles in every competition it enters while also investing significant energy in youth development,” he noted.

While Bigbank Tartu secured several podium finishes last season, the team fell short of winning a trophy. “This agreement comes at a time when the team did not achieve the goals it had set for itself last season. Support of this scale carries particular significance at such a moment,” said Rikand, adding that the team's clear objective for the coming season is to win the Estonian Championship title. “The potential is strong and motivation is high.”

Founded in 1999, the volleyball club has competed under the Bigbank Tartu name for the past 14 years. During that period, the club has won the Estonian Championship six times and lifted the Estonian Cup on six occasions. In addition, the team has claimed six Baltic League titles and two Baltic Super Cup trophies.
