Bigbank’s results for Q3 2026: Nine-month profit reaches 30.1 million euros, Group balance sheet exceeds 4 billion euros
As Bigbank continues to expand its role as a universal bank in the Baltic countries, the Group’s balance sheet reached 4 billion euros by the end of the third quarter. The deposit portfolio grew to 3.5 billion euros (+29% year on year) and the loan portfolio to 3.3 billion euros (+27% year on year). The Group’s net profit for the first nine months of the year amounted to 30.1 million euros.
According to Martin Länts, Chairman of the Management Board of Bigbank, the third quarter of 2026 was a strong quarter for the Bank.“We are particularly pleased that strong business growth was accompanied by an improvement in loan portfolio quality and solid profitability. Net interest income increased by 23% compared to the third quarter of last year, while quarterly net profit grew by 10% to 12.6 million euros,” he said.
According to Länts, the development of everyday banking services also delivered strong results. Current account balances increased by 59% during the quarter, reaching 110 million euros, reflecting customers’ growing interest in using Bigbank as their provider of everyday banking services. During the third quarter, Apple Pay was added to Bigbank’s payment solutions offering alongside Google Pay and Garmin Pay, while complimentary purchase protection insurance was introduced for the free debit card.
“The Bigbank current account combines 2% interest on unlimited account balances with free payments and no account-related fees. As a result, it is the most economically attractive current account offering on the market for retail and business customers in the Baltics. Our ambition is to make Bigbank the preferred home bank for customers across all Baltic countries,” confirmed Länts.
Based on the financial results published today, Bigbank earned a net profit of 12.6 million euros in the third quarter, which was 1.1 million euros higher (+10%) than in the third quarter of 2025. The Bank’s total net profit for the first nine months of 2026 amounted to 30.1 million euros, compared to 30.2 million euros during the same period a year earlier.
Bigbank’s loan portfolio reached a record 3.3 billion euros by the end of the third quarter, increasing by 271 million euros (+9%) over the quarter and by 688 million euros (+27%) year on year. Compared to the end of the previous quarter, the business loan portfolio grew by 201 million euros (+16%) to 1.4 billion euros, the home loan portfolio by 47 million euros (+5%) to 933 million euros and the consumer loan portfolio by 22 million euros (+3%) to 881 million euros.
The quality of the loan portfolio improved during the third quarter. The credit quality of consumer loans continues to improve, that of home loans remains very high and that of business loans remains at a consistently good level. In addition, the exit of a large business loan from Stage 3 significantly reduced the share of Stage 3 exposures in the overall loan portfolio. Net expected credit loss expense decreased by 0.3 million euros compared to the same period in 2025 and amounted to 2.2 million euros. The volume of Stage 3 exposures declined to 100 million euros, representing 3.0% of the total loan portfolio.
The Group’s total deposit portfolio grew by 332 million euros (+10%) over the quarter and by 795 million euros (+29%) year on year, reaching 3.5 billion euros. The strongest growth was recorded in the savings deposit portfolio, which increased to 1.8 billion euros (quarterly growth of 253 million euros or 17%). The term deposit portfolio grew by 39 million euros (+2%) during the quarter, reaching 1.65 billion euros.
Current account balances once again grew at a strong pace, even faster than term deposits. Quarterly growth amounted to 41 million euros (+59%), and by the end of the period current account balances reached 110 million euros.
Bigbank’s interest income for the third quarter totalled 58.3 million euros, increasing by 11.8 million euros (+25%) compared to the same period last year. Interest expenses amounted to 24.5 million euros, increasing by 5.4 million euros (+28%) year on year. As a result, net interest income was 6.4 million euros higher (+23%) than in the third quarter of the previous year, reaching 33.8 million euros.
The value of the Group’s investment property portfolio remained at 81.0 million euros. No revaluation of investment properties was carried out during the third quarter, and rental cash flows from both commercial properties and agricultural land remained unchanged.
To support business growth, Bigbank issued AT1 bonds worth 17.23 million euros during the third quarter, increasing Additional Tier 1 capital by the same amount. A total of 1,723 bonds with a nominal value of 10,000 euros each were issued to 83 investors.
Behind the growing business volumes stands a strong Bigbank team. The number of employees increased by 29 (+4%) during the quarter and by 122 (+20%) year on year, reaching 741 employees. The main drivers of workforce growth were the launch of everyday banking products and the continued commitment to providing customers with a high level of service amid the growth of both loan and deposit portfolios. Salary expenses increased to 10.8 million euros in the third quarter, exceeding the figure for the same period in 2025 by 2.1 million euros (+24%).
